About Us

Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kozhikode started functioning on 4th July 1969, with the blessings of Poojya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanandaji, as a small nursery school with English as the medium of instruction. It has been growing steadily ever since and in the year 2002 it blossomed into a Higher Secondary school. Now there are 1400 students and 60 teachers on the rolls. Besides the regular subjects, the school offers training in Physical Education, Music, Dance, Yoga, Drawing, and Instrumental music under qualified teachers. Sanskrit is also taught here and The Bhagavad Gita is a part of the curriculum. The institution has units for Scouts, Guides and JRC at the UP and High School levels and Bulbuls and Cubs at the LP level.

The school's main objective is the development of an integrated personality. Academics and extra curricular activities are evenly balanced so as to offer the children a holistic education. In the academic field, our students have bagged several ranks in the SSLC, USS and other examinations conducted by various organizations such as PCM, Holy Faith, GuruSishya and Orchard India. In the SSLC examination the school has secured a pass percentage of 100 since the past 13 years. Few of our students have won the patent rights from the National Innovative Foundation for the Blind Man's Balance they invented. Every year many students receive Rashtrapathi Puraskar, Rajya Puraskar and national level gold medals to our Scouts and Guides. Our students have been the overall champions at the Sub junior level in sports for years. In the extra curricular field our students have won the Kalathilakam and Kalaprathibha titles at various levels in the Youth Festivals and Samskritotsavam. We have been the overall champions at the Balakalotsavam for the past few years.

All the students are active members of the various clubs like the Literary club, Eco club, IT club, Science club, Quiz club, Fine Arts club and the Music club. These clubs arrange seminars, exhibitions, talks and competitions to stimulate the children and instil leadership qualities in them and ensure that they channelize their energy constructively. As members of these clubs the students get opportunities to interact with physically and mentally challenged children at social service centres. They are encouraged to buy products made by this marginalized section of society as most of these charitable institutions do not get financial aid from the government. Thus the Vidyalaya tries to inculcate love and compassion in them and make them responsible citizens. The children are involved in the plastic free, litter free campus campaigns and are encouraged to take these missions beyond the campus to public places and the public alike, the ultimate aim being a litter free, plastic free nation.

SPIC MACAY

We have a SPIC MACAY(Society For The Promotion Of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) chapter in the school that has over the years introduced the students to the cultural mosaic that is India.
